Art, Antiques, Pottery, and Shopping

Come and experience the thrill of discovering the art of nature while staying at our romantic mountain cabins. Brevard, Asheville and Cashiers are surrounded by a lush green forest that has inspired its artists for generations. The region's artisans have primarily manufactured pottery, fiber arts, glass blowing, and metal, but there are many creative artists who have settled here so you will have the opportunity to shop for one-of-a-kind pieces for your collection at one of the galleries located in downtown Brevard. You might also get to learn a few tricks from the artisans who reside close by in the numerous studios that can be easily reached by car.

Sculpture Walk

Enjoy a lovely afternoon strolling along Brevard’s Urban Sculpture Walk to view the 20 life-size animals of the region, 1 abstract sculpture, and 3 giant musical instruments created by various artists. Most of these steel, bronze, copper marble and stone sculptures are downtown, some are a bit farther out and may require a short drive. We’ve left a map in the cabin or you can stop by the Visitor Center and pick one up.

4th Friday Gallery Walk

From April to December, downtown’s 17 galleries and a changing coterie of local merchants extend their hours well into the evening to accommodate shoppers and art aficionados alike. Oftentimes, individual events are accompanied by wine, hors d’oeurvres, and live music. The Art Walk is a great excuse to stroll beneath the street lamps at one of the loveliest times of the day, whet your appetite for a meal at one of the many surrounding restaurants, and maybe find something exceptional to add to your collection.

Scenic 276 Arts Corridor

276 South is a Fine Art & Craft Corridor; a 13-mile narrow ribbon of highway that winds out of Brevard, skirting the edges of the mountains (thereby providing occasionally impressive views) all the way to the South Carolina line. Along  that leafy thoroughfare is a renowned collection of galleries, working and teaching studios, shops, charming lodgings, home-style dining and fresh local produce. Many have open studios, some have open classes and at least a few offer fine porches to sit a spell and admire the scenery.
